Meet Dr. Paul Lounsberry

Dr. Paul Lounsberry has been practicing general dentistry in Austin since he graduated from dental school at the University Of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1984. One of Dr. Lounsberry’s long-term goals was to have a neighborhood family practice near home. He fulfilled that goal in June of 1995 when he opened Balcones Family Dental, and as the name implies, his practice caters to the entire family!

Dentures

Dr. Lounsberry and Dr. Maddox can determine the best of several options available for denture wearers. Complete dentures can be made and inserted in the mouth either immediately after the removal of remaining teeth (immediate dentures), or after the gums have healed for 6-8 weeks (conventional dentures). With immediate dentures, measurements are taken and models are made before the removal of teeth, for dentures ready to be worn immediately. Because gums and bones can shrink during healing, immediate dentures often need to be rebased or relined later to continue fitting properly. Once the mouth tissues have completely healed, a conventional denture can be prepared and placed.

Implant Supported Dentures

Rather than being held in place by messy adhesives, implant-supported dentures are attached to dental implants and secured to the jaw. Dentures that are supported by dental implants can be snapped in and out of place by the patient for easy cleaning, or they can be fixed with screws to give additional support to feel more like real teeth and eliminate any difficulty that may occur when eating or speaking. Implant Supported Dentures are entirely supported by dental implants. They may be fixed or removable . Our Dental Team of experts will be able to help you assess what style would be best for you.
Because the quality of patient care is paramount at Balcones Family Dental, Dr. Lounsberry and Dr. Maddox collaborate with an oral surgeon, as well, ensuring their patients receive the optimum, most advanced and highest caliber of care to help patients achieve optimal oral health.
