What is the process of getting a filling?
The process begins with numbing the affected tooth to ensure comfort. The decayed portion of the tooth is then removed, and the area is cleaned thoroughly. The composite material is applied in layers and hardened with a special curing light. The dentist then shapes and polishes the filling to ensure a comfortable bite. The whole procedure is typically quick, lasting about 30–60 minutes, and patients can resume normal activities soon after.
What are the symptoms of cavities?
Cavities often start with mild symptoms, such as tooth sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweet foods. As decay progresses, symptoms may include persistent toothache, visible holes or dark spots on the tooth, and discomfort when chewing.
